Affordable Health Insurance

April 26, 2008

There are many individuals and families in America today who do not have any form of health insurance. The numbers are in the millions. Some of these people are self-employed; some do not work at all due to poor health or plain old bad luck. Some work for a type of business that does not offer benefits such as health insurance to its employees. Whatever the reason, these people do not have the benefit of regular health care, simply because they do not have the money to pay the insurance premiums.

Statistics show that most people who do not have insurance simply do not visit a doctor unless it is a medical emergency, and even then, they must often be persuaded by anxious family members unless they are unconscious. They never receive any sort of routine medical care or preventative care such as check-ups or flu shots. Often, they fall ill with a disease or illness that could have been prevented if they had been getting regular care. By the time they notice that something is wrong with them and finally make it to a doctor, often it is too late. Cancer, diabetes, heart problems, and tuberculosis can all be treated if they are caught in time.

These people can find health insurance that they can afford with just a little effort. There are companies that exist just to help people who do not have health insurance locate insurance providers who offer affordable health insurance policies. They will find out how much these people could spend on insurance, and see if they can find a policy that the people can afford. Often, individuals without insurance will take the time to do some looking around to see what they would have to pay for health insurance stop looking once they see how much it would cost. They do not know about the special companies that would be more than happy to help them.

Everyone deserves to have insurance to protect their health and help them with the costs of medical bills. What would people who have no insurance do if they were to come down with a major illness? How would they manage to pay for medical care? Studies by the American Cancer Society have proven that people who have cancer and do not have insurance are 60 percent more likely to die than the patients who are fortunate enough to have insurance.

Affordable health insurance is available for those who need it. It is an availability that should be advertised so that every citizen in America can have access to it.
